Open Letter to Incoming USDA Administration Requests Priority on Agricultural Production Diversification

The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition and other organizations are inviting agricultural producers to sign onto an open letter to the incoming USDA administration. The letter, authored by eight farmers, encourages USDA Secretary Nominee Brooke Rollins to make diversification of agricultural production a priority initiative for the Department over the next four years. It notes numerous barriers facing those who wish to diversify their operations, including the need to develop new markets and infrastructure and the lack of appropriate risk management tools and technical assistance. The authors request that producers who wish to sign on do so by January 21, 2025.
