General Farm Description: Via Lactea is a pagan animist land based church that is committed to subsistence agriculture. We have several cows and a bull that we graze rotationally. They are moved really frequently to fresh pasture for animal health and to build carbon and humus in the soil. We also have fruit and nut trees and a veggie garden, that is managed without chemicals.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
Curious, open-minded, multi-talented individual or couple (any gender/orientation) motivated to learn and practice regenerative agriculture and regenerative culture skills in a Neo-Pagan animist/polytheistic religious community context. Experience in agriculture, Paganism, Animism, culture creation including art and music, outdoor ed. and/or land-based organizations desirable but not required. Must possess a strong work ethic; resiliency to varied working conditions; capacity to follow directions and learn and apply what’s learned; desire for healing in a community context. Must be able to thrive in alternating solitude/wilderness and intensive social/religious situations. Must possess strong desire to internalize, and serve the growth and development of Via Lactea’s agricultural and religious mission.
COMMITMENT

- 3 months residential; leading to possible candidacy for 6-month residential Internship, then year-long Apprenticeship
- 10-20 hours per week, depending upon agreement
- Activities: Regenerative dairy agriculture, permaculture, orcharding, small fruit production, row cropping, construction, meetings, collective healing work including Internal Family Systems Parts Work, religious gatherings and education, marketing and administrative assistance, and religious event staffing and support, depending upon interests and abilities.

CONTRACT

- Agrees to stay for min. 3 months, barring extreme situation
- Will learn, follow and practice Core 3 Agreements: Advice Process, Feedback and Conflict Resolution
- Will strive to be a proactive, caring, generous, kind and self-responsible community member
- Agrees be trained in and follow all V.L. safety and hazard practices and V.L. ecological ethics
- Will try new things, ask for help when needed, and offer creative energy
- Will not bring pets, guns or chemicals to Sanctuary
Educational Opportunities: regenerative grazing, small scale fruit and veggie production, renewable energy
Skills Desired: Experience with dairy cows a plus, along with orchard or veggie cultivation.
