At Sweet Earth Orchard, we cultivate more than just the land—we cultivate connection, grounding, and transformation. Nestled in the foothills of the Front Range, our 31-acre farm in Hygiene, Colorado, serves as a sacred space where individuals, teams, and communities reconnect with themselves, each other, the natural world and health-giving food.
Through immersive experiences grounded in nature, a permaculture approach to agriculture, and intentional gathering spaces, we provide an environment where clarity emerges, healing unfolds, and inspired action takes root. Our passive solar greenhouse, permaculture orchard, vegetable beds and farm fields create the foundation for a healthier future.
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, hard-working, dedicated farm intern. Attitude is everything, we are seeking people who bring a positive attitude to our farm.
The internship will involve the following:
- Growing healthy nursery starts and direct seeding
- Garden bed preparation, broadforking and digging
- Maintaining weeds, including use of string-trimmer
- Garden and orchard pest control, including use of backpack sprayer (we do not use toxic chemicals)
- Irrigation system operation and plant watering
- Trellising and thinning
- Vegetable, fruit and seed harvesting (All harvesting is done by hand)
- Post-harvest wash area work (washing, bunching, quality control, packing)
- General farm upkeep
Hours: 10 hours a week, as needed, potentially across two 5 hour days
Pay: $17 / hr
Outdoor growing season: March for seedling starts to November for end-of-season cleanup
Ideal candidates:
- Are open to, and have enthusiasm for, hands on learning
- Respect the land, plants, tools, equipment, and all the life on the farm
- Are open and respectful of other perspectives (especially on food and diet)
- Are willing to try new things
- Respect that all tasks on the farm are sacred to the farm’s success
- Work quickly and efficiently, but are also careful and able to follow directions
- Ask questions, then take initiative
- Communicate promptly, show up reliably
- Fluent English speaker
- Have a cellphone and reliable transportation
- Are at least 18 years old
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs
- Do what they say they are going to do when they say they are going to do it
