Internship information
General Farm Description: Our farm is a contiguous landscape of wild spaces, orchards and pastures - 40 acres of grasses, forbs, fruit trees, nuts, and shrubs. Some planted. Some emergent and wild. Our animals pulse through this landscape in rotation as we move our sheep, cows and poultry to fresh pasture daily. We raise lots of pastured poultry (chicken, duck, geese, turkey) in between our young silvopasture tree rows. We also run 550 layer hens in mobile wagons. We raise Katahdin sheep for meat and currently breed with about 30 ewes.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Farm Hand to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for farming and a willingness to learn various aspects of farm operations. This role involves hands-on work with sheep, cattle, and poultry, ensuring the smooth functioning of daily farm activities.
Job begins in March and goes through Thanksgiving, with the potential to stay on through the winter months.

Weekly schedule:

~8 hour shifts on Wednesday-Friday

~4 hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday (3 hrs for morning chores & 1 hr for evening chores)
Responsibilities

Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.

Tear down and set up portable fencing daily for sheep and poultry paddocks.

Move portable poultry housing daily.

Supervise daily farm operations, including coordinating tasks among team members.

Maintain cleanliness and organization of the farm facilities and equipment.

Processing/butchering/packaging poultry with team.
Educational Opportunities: This is a hands on opportunity to be a part of the inner workings of a young, small-scale for profit regenerative farm.
Skills Desired: Farm experience required. Especially exposure to livestock, portable electric fencing, etc.
Meals: No. The Tiny house has a fully equipped kitchen. We provide free eggs, free seconds meat, and 20% off all other farm products. Also shared garden access. We will have a crew lunch once a week with a crew meeting. We live in a great community however where there are plenty of connections to be made. I.e we are not very isolated.
Stipend: We pay $16/hr starting.
Housing: We have housing available as a part of work/trade.
