‘Chicken Dinner’ Service Offers Glimpse of Pastured Poultry Diets
Researchers from the University of Georgia studying pastured poultry benefits to farmers have launched a Chicken Dinner service for growers to discover free of charge what pests and weeds their pastured chickens are eating. Pastured poultry growers from across the country can complete a 46-question online survey on integrated crop-chicken systems that makes them eligible for the free analysis. Submit chicken poop from your flock to find out what they’re eating and what bacteria they may carry. Your individual data will only be shared with you. Aggregated data, with identifiers and locations removed, will be published online, so you can compare your chickens to the rest of the flock. This survey is part of the University of Georgia’s Chick-EES research project, funded by a USDA-NIFA grant.
