Internship information
General Farm Description: Ivy Creek Family Farm is an established farm using organic practices to produce seasonal vegetables and flowers. While the farm itself is 38 acres, we farm on 7 acres of the flat land which borders the north fork of the Ivy River. We are located in a small community about 20 minutes north of Asheville and five minutes from beautiful national forest land and great hiking. We are a team of four experienced farmers. We work with restaurants, sell at two thriving producer-only tailgate markets, manage a small farm stand, collaborate with our local food pantry, and also work with a select few grocers. We grow a wide variety of vegetables and flowers for market including all root crops, leafy greens, cucurbits, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, all brassicas, etc., and we focus on select crops for wholesale production including lettuce, kale, herbs, tomatoes, squash, and cucumbers. We grow on permanent, raised beds and we do utilize two Kubota tractors in the fields along with many hand tools. We grow all of our tomatoes and peppers indoors and we utilize our 13 hoop houses for spring and late fall production as well. We grow all of our own plant starts and offer the opportunity for staff to learn plant propagation and care of many dozens of varieties of vegetables and flowers. We are happy to answer any questions applicants have about the farm.CRAFT Member Farm? Yes
