American Poultry Census Underway for Heritage and Standard Breeds
The Livestock Conservancy is partnering with the American Poultry Association’s Census Committee in conducting a nationwide poultry census to understand how heritage and standard-bred poultry populations are doing across the United States. A poultry census is especially important because there is no national registry for purebred or standardbred birds. Tracking population trends is possible only through a detailed survey of private and commercial poultry breeders with actively breeding birds. The census will be open through August 1, 2026, and takes an average of six minutes to complete online.
