About Us
Sugar Hill Farmstead is a regenerative livestock farm raising grass-fed, grass-finished beef and pasture-raised animals. We process and distribute our meat directly to families across Hawaiʻi.
This is a working farm—not a classroom. You’ll be learning by doing, alongside us, every day.
Overview
This apprenticeship is designed for someone ready to step into real farm life and build practical skills in regenerative agriculture, animal care, and food systems.
No prior farm experience required—but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are essential.
Key Responsibilities

Daily animal care, feeding, and health observation

Rotational grazing and pasture management

Fencing, repairs, and general farm maintenance

Assisting with order packing and fulfillment

Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas

Supporting overall farm operations as needed

Assisting with butchery and meat processing (earned over time based on trust, consistency, and attention to detail)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Outdoor work in all weather conditions (sun, rain, mud)

Early mornings and physically demanding tasks

Repetitive movement, lifting, and long days on your feet
-
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs
This is hands-on, physical work with real responsibility.
Compensation & Living

$20/hour
-
On-site tiny home housing available with full kitchen and washer/dryer

$1,500/month (includes utilities, water, and Starlink WiFi)

Access to farm eggs, meat, and vegetables (tracked), helping reduce food costs
Living on-site allows you to stay close to the rhythm of the farm and simplifies day-to-day life.
Qualifications
Required:

Reliable, consistent, and able to follow through

Willingness to work hard and take direction

Ability to work independently and as part of a small team

Valid driver’s license

Experience with physical labor, outdoor work, or hands-on environments
