White Paper Explores Healthcare’s Role in Regional Food Systems
A new white paper from Roots of Change and the Center for Wellness and Nutrition explores how healthcare can contribute to building healthy regional food systems that are strong and resilient. Bridging Regional Food Systems and Healthcare draws on lessons from three California healthcare programs that utilize local food, illustrating how they improve food security and community health, as well as improve household and community resilience in the face of crisis. To achieve such results more broadly, the white paper recommends strengthening community-based organizations, integrating local and regional food into healthcare, and diversifying and strengthening local and regional food system infrastructure.
