General Farm Description: Champlain Valley Mushrooms is a small, family owned farm in Orwell Vermont. We specialize in indoor cultivation of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. We sell our products at local farmer's markets and co-ops. Our business is located in the beautiful Champlain Valley close to lots of swimming holes and hiking trails. We are conveniently located 30 minutes from Middlebury, 40 minutes from Rutland, and just over an hour from Burlington.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
Intern will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of mushroom cultivation. This includes lots of cleaning, harvesting, inoculation, packaging, spawn production, tincture production, etc. Intern will attend at least one farmer’s market each week. Tasks may also include helping out around our homestead on projects such as gardening, wood splitting, tree planting, and building infrastructure. Intern can expect to work up to 50 hours per week. All applicants must have a valid driver’s license and their own transportation.
Educational Opportunities: This internship is a great educational experience for someone eager to learn about mushroom cultivation and running a small business. Additionally, there are lots of opportunities to learn off farm at various workshops and visits to local farms offered in the surrounding community.
Skills Desired: We are looking for someone who is genuinely excited to learn about mushroom cultivation! Good work ethic, attention to detail and pace, the ability to work well independently or as part of a team, a good attitude, and flexibility are some of the qualities of a successful candidate. Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 lbs.
