Internship information
General Farm Description: Owl Wood Farm is a small diverse no-till vegetable operation located in Salem, NY. We grow intensively with hand tools on about 1 acre and sell at three local farmers markets. We grow organically and strive for a harmonious relationship with nature through small scale biological agriculture. We grow a diversity of vegetables from Arugula to Zucchini, and focus on being efficient. A river flows close to the fields and offers a great place to cool off on a hot day. We are only a short distance to kayaking and other activities on the Battenkill River and there is a lot of hiking and biking in the area as well.CRAFT Member Farm? No

We seek two crew members to help us this season from April through October. Tasks will include all aspects of organic vegetable farming including seeding, transplanting, bed preparation, weeding, harvesting, washing, and selling at market. These tasks can be repetitive and in all weather conditions, so a positive attitude and quick pace are invaluable. The interns will likely go to 1 market per week with one of us, so ideally they would be good at quick math and enjoy talking with customers.
The intern will have 2 days off per week. Experience is helpful but we are willing to teach anyone with a strong work ethic who is eager to learn the skills required. Please send resumes, 2-3 references, and a brief description of why you want to work on our farm to owlwoodgrowers@gmail.com. Feel free to call Mark or Lindsay at 518-538-9467 with any questions and we look forward to hearing from you!
