Internship information
General Farm Description: Dirt Rich Farm is a Certified Organic vegetable farm located 40 minutes south of Buffalo, NY. We have a little over 2 acres in cultivation and grow over 40 different kinds of vegetables and culinary herbs for our 150 member Summer CSA (June-October), 30 member Late Fall CSA (November and December), a farmers market, a farm stand, and wholesale to restaurants and other local businesses. We also grow some strawberries and raspberries and have a Seedling Sale in the spring, where we sell transplants to home gardeners. We use low-till methods, and our most important equipment is a two-wheel tractor and hand tools. The farm is run by Laura Colligan, who started the business in 2015, when she was 21, and her husband Ryan Leggio, who joined the farm in 2019.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Come work on our Certified Organic vegetable farm and make $18-$20/hour, plus get free produce from the farm! We have full-time and part-time positions available for the full 2024 growing season (roughly early April to late October) and the summer (early June to late September is preferred, but we can be flexible on start and end date for the right candidate).
What’s it like to work on our farm? In the spring, there’s lots of transplanting, hoeing, and weeding. In the summer, there’s still plenty of weeding, but we also do lots of harvesting and washing and bagging of the harvest. In the fall, we do big harvests of storage vegetables, like potatoes, winter squash, and root vegetables, and clean up the farm in preparation for winter.
Previous farming experience, especially on vegetable farms and/or farms that use organic/regenerative practices, is preferred but not required. Applicants must be available to work at least 16 hours/week. To apply, email your cover letter and resume to dirtrichfarm@gmail.com
Educational Opportunities: We aim to teach as we go, trying to explain not just what work we're doing, but why we're doing it the way we do. Farmer Laura is the president of the Good Farmers Guild of Western New York and is happy to keep you in the loop about all local Good Farmers Guild events.
Skills Desired: Previous farming experience is preferred, but not required.
