Appalachian Grown Producer Survey Report Released

Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project’s Local Food Research Center surveys participants in the Appalachian Grown program each year to to take the pulse of farming in the region and assess the impact of ASAP’s programs and services. This annual survey gathers information about market channel opportunities, marketing strategies, and farm product sales. Producers were also able to report both the challenges they face farming in this region and the impact that the Appalachian Grown program has had on their farm business’ success. The results of the 2023 survey are now available online. Among the highlights: producers reported higher gross earnings in 2023, they listed being able to connect with customers and other community members as a primary driving force for their work, and they offered advice on finding land to buy or lease.
