Clemson University Student Organization Develops Food Forest

Students for Stewardship, an ecology-based community service organization at Clemson University, has developed a food forest on campus, reports The Tiger. With funding from local agricultural projects and more than 1,000 hours of student work, the group created Hunnicutt Food Forest, where they will plant a variety of edible, medicinal, and native plants this spring using regenerative agriculture practicews. The food forest will be open to the public, and organizers hope to connect with a local trail system to improve public access. “We want people to be able to see an apple that they want to eat and just pick it,” said Students for Stewardship co-president Paige Farral.
