Internship information
General Farm Description: Solid Ground Farm is a certified organic diversified veggie farm on the outskirts of Kingston. With about nine acres in production, we focus on producing high-quality produce for our members and customers. We market through a CSA, farmers markets, and local wholesale. The farm is located in a picturesque valley in the Hurley Flats, backing up to the scenic Esopus Creek. We do some additional production on a nearby property. Crew members can expect to be involved in all aspects of production and marketing, and will gain an in-depth perspective on small-scale sustainable agriculture.

Internship Details:

We’re looking for 2 full-time crew members to join the farm team for the 2025 growing season.

Day to day tasks will shift over the course of the season: you’ll be involved in greenhouse operations, planting and weeding, harvesting, post-harvest handling, deliveries, and more. Most days involve a variety of tasks, and you should expect to have a broad experience while also delving deeply into specific projects. We start each morning with a meeting to discuss plans for the day and go over new elements.  All crew members will have areas of responsibility, and we are happy to develop work that addresses specific areas of interest.  You will also gain tractor experience and have opportunities for customer interaction.  No weekend work is required, although the possibility is there if you’re interested.  The position is early April into early November, Monday-Friday.

Educational Opportunities: While this is not an explicitly educational internship, all crew members will be fully involved in all aspects of farm operation, from tractor-based bed prep to plant care to harvest.

Skills Desired: The ideal applicant has some experience in vegetable farming already, or at least experience in related outdoor labor fields.

Meals: The farm team all brings their own lunch, and we eat together at mid-day.

Stipend: Yes, we offer a wage of $18-19 an hour, with a week of paid time off during the season.

Housing: Unfortunately we don't have any housing available on-farm.
