This internship is for general farm labor. The majority of work will be with animals or maintaining fences and other infrastructure related to raising our animals. There are cows, pigs, sheep, laying hens, broilers, and turkeys on our farm. Animals are raised on pasture to the best of our abilities for the entire growing season. We are a hard-working family, and we expect our interns to give their best effort towards helping us and learning about great animal care and soil health!
If you have an interest in learning about the direct marketing side of the business, we can arrange for you to spend time packing orders, caring for customers, making deliveries, social media, and more!
Interns will also be expected to help with the large family garden as needed. The garden does provide a significant amount of food for our teams meals.
This internship is for the growing season of 2025. This internship will begin April 1st and continue through October 31st. Start and End days are up for discussion. Daily schedule will vary. A typical day will be 5-10 a.m. morning chores and 2:30-5:30 evening chores. The typical day will be 8 hours. Sundays will have less hours but follow nearly the same schedule.
The rest of your time is free to use as you will. There is always opportunity to work additional hours with us. Any hours you work with us beyond 8 hours each day will be compensated for at $15/hr.
Food and housing will be provided at no cost to the intern. 3 meals per day will be provided six days a week and breakfast on the weekends. Most meals are home cooked and made from our own farm inventory of animal products and home grown vegetables. Housing will be in small living quarters that may be shared with another intern.
Time away can be taken if it is not excessive and is discussed beforehand.
Continued employment after internship may be available.
Educational Opportunities: Time will be spent with our family on a regular basis. We are open to teaching what we know, all you have to do is ask. Our mentality is that hands on is the best way to learn. We will schedule time each week to have group discussion and to cover any topics that deserve more in depth conversation.
