General Farm Description: LynnVale Studios is a 10-acre family farm in Gainesville, VA growing specialty cut flowers for high end retail, designer wholesale and bespoke special events & weddings. Internship Details:
Part-time Paid Internship – 24 hours/week – Tuesday – Friday, typically, 9am – 3pm – some flexibility for student class schedules, total hours not to exceed 999/year
We are looking for reliable, hardworking and trustworthy individuals to join our team. Individuals will gain experience in: all aspects of field and high tunnel production of cut flower crops, post-harvest handling techniques, floral design, and trialing. Applicants should be prepared to: work outdoors in all types of weather, work effectively and efficiently individually or as part of a team, provide their own transportation & housing.
Interns may be asked to assist periodically in direct market sales at our DC Farmers Market and on as needed basis for delivery/installation of special events/weddings.
Educational Opportunities: well-rounded internship covering all aspects of commercial floriculture production - from field to vase.
Skills Desired: - Farming/Horticulture/floriculture and/or restaurant/fast paced retail experience considered a PLUS - comfortable working in all types of weather conditions - physically fit/able to perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks included but not limited to bending, squatting, kneeling, standing and overhead work, as well as able to lift up to 50 lbs.
