General Farm Description: DeLaTerre Permaculture Farm is a budding 14-acre farm focused on regenerative farming, direct-to-consumer sales, and educational experiences. The farm includes a 2-acre market garden, and 10 acres dedicated to livestock production for sheep, goats, laying hens, broilers, ducks, and rabbits. The farmhouse, a farmstand, three livestock sheds, two high tunnels, a slaughter/post-harvest facility, and a medicinal herb and flower garden complete the property. DeLaTerre Permaculture Farm is adding 29 acres to facilitate cow-calf operation, increase fruit production with a permaculture food forest and generate compost.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
DeLaTerre Permaculture Farm is seeking two enthusiastic, hardworking team members who are interested in a 6-month internship (5/15-11/172023) on a farm implementing Regenerative Organic principles. The 43-acre diversified farm has 2.5 acres in intensive vegetable production, along with sheep, goats, and chickens on pasture. Successful candidates will work with co-owners Donna Isaacs, Waylon Breaux, and team member, Yaneese Cooper to design and implement innovative systems for building soil health for annual vegetables, fruits, herbs, flowers, meat, and egg production. They will assist with the care of livestock, market garden production, orchard implementation, direct-to-consumer sales, and participate in infrastructure projects. They will help develop and implement a long-term regenerative plan for both properties as we begin the transition process to Regenerative Organic Certified.

Educational Opportunities: Intensive Vegetable Production: Bed Preparation with BCS 2-Wheel Tractor and attachments and UV-Tarps, Seed Starting (Soil Blocks & Paper Trays), Direct Seeding, Weeding, Irrigating, Harvesting, Post-Harvest, Direct-to-Consumer Sales (Online, Farmers Market, Subscriptions). Livestock Management: Rotational Grazing of poultry, sheep, and goats; egg washing, etc. Farm Management Software: Tend, LocalLine Assisting with Infrastructure Projects: Poultry Processing, Post-Harvest Facility, Livestock Sheds
Skills Desired: Seeking individuals who are interested in learning about both livestock and vegetable production as well as putting in basic farm infrastructure. Previous farm experience or a degree in agroecology/agronomy/agriculture communication is preferred but not required. Applicant must be interested in regenerative organic production.
Meals: No, but interns will receive a complimentary veggie box and a dozen eggs weekly.
Stipend: $2,000 per month.
Housing: No, it does not include housing, room, and board but there is an RV park within 5 miles of the farm. A 30-minute commute from Monroe, West Monroe, Ruston, or Jonesboro.
