General Farm Description: Oatka Creek Farm grows certified organic produce in LeRoy, NY on 20 acres of historic farmland along the Oatka Creek. We are certified organic by NOFA-NY and are located in Genesee County in Western New York State. We are located about 30 minutes southwest of Rochester, NY. We grow 4 acres of diversified vegetables and about 7 acres of cover crops per season. Our growing practices include using only organic, slow release inputs and never synthetic chemicals, fertilizers or herbicides. We focus on soil health to ensure that our crops are healthy and nutritious. We use a mix of hand methods and mechanization to ensure both quality and productivity. Most of our sales are direct-to-consumer through our free-choice CSA program, an on-site farm stand, weekly produce boxes, and the LeRoy Farmers Market. Farm Crew
We are looking for reliable and responsible individuals who thrive in a fast-paced working environment with a variety of tasks. Farming is a rewarding job, but it is also challenging both physically and mentally. Our crew enjoys working outdoors and getting things done together!
Our employees get to work in many aspects of the farm including: field work, high tunnel production, greenhouse propagation, harvest, post-harvest wash/pack. Employees who excel in certain roles have the option to specialize in areas of interest throughout the season.
Farming experience is preferred but not required. Individuals with work experience in physically demanding jobs are encouraged to apply (ex. landscaping, construction, food service).
Hours & Compensation

Pay is commensurate with experience starting at $19.50/hour for people with minimum applicable experience and references. All references must be reachable.

A typical day (Mon-Fri) is 8:00AM – 4:00PM with a half hour paid lunch. Start and end times may change depending on weather and daylight throughout the season. Half-day morning shifts may also be available.

Our season runs March through November, with limited winter work (November – February) available to returning employees first.

Requirements

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the farm

Must be available for the majority of the season. Seasonal farm work is high intensity in a quick window. We cannot accommodate multiple long absences (excluding emergencies and illness) during peak season May through September.

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to work in all weather conditions while safely able

Ability to stand, sit, bend, kneel, stretch, and squat for extended periods of time

Physical stamina for manual and occasional heavy work, able to lift at least 50 lbs
