Hours: Anywhere from 10-32 hours a week. Flexible on the exact schedule and amount of hours (but would want the rough ballpark of anticipated hours/week set at the beginning of the year for planning purposes).

Pay: $15/hour, with $500 bonus at end of the year (~Thanksgiving) if you average more than 15 hours a week

Start date: April 2025 (flexible on specifics)

Application deadline: Rolling, will respond within three weeks, let us know if you need a quicker response though!

If you’ve never worked on a farm before, know that the pace and physicality can be quite a bit different from other lines of work!  We are happy to answer any and all questions so don’t hesitate to reach out! We will be accepting applications (apply at the bottom of this page) on a rolling basis until filled (if this page is still up we are still looking). We promise to get back to you within three weeks of receiving your application, but hopefully sooner!

Note: no prior farm experience is necessary

Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds

  • Ability to partake in physically active farm tasks.

  • Positive, friendly attitude

  • Respectful and kind to everyone. Full stop. Non-negotiable.

  • Clear, proactive communicator

  • Ability to do some things independently (with direction and support of course!)

Other Benefits:

  • Access to farm produce “seconds”

  • An amazing fitness regimen of various farm tasks 🙂

  • Fully open books — outside of work time we are happy to show you everything about how our farm economics/business side of things “works” if you want, full transparency.

  • Access to lots of farm (and non-farm) books from our rather robust library.

  • Life-long mentorship.

  • Flexible schedule as long as you are communicative and we know in advance (this includes time off from the farm for a week (with a couple week notice) or more if you want).

  • “Pick-your-focus” flexibility – will try to offer multiple options for what you do on the farm each day when possible (sometimes we have some “all-hands-on-deck” moments).

  • Walking distance to  Devil’s Lake State Park (Wisconsin’s most popular state park) and other great natural areas. Ability to borrow our kayak, canoe, or bike too!

  • 20 minute drive to Wisconsin Dells, home of many great unnatural areas, if that is more your thing!

  • Room may be available to rent in the house ($400/mo, utilities/internet included).  Open to other options and helping as we can with housing.

  • Possible option to earn equity in farm long-term after first season and lots of opportunity for growth into other areas (cafe, retail, hospitality, preservation kitchen — new building, enterprises scheduled to go-live in spring 2027).

Educational Opportunities: Many, Varied. We are part of several local networks with opportunities as well as a robust farming library. Happy to have guided learning or just share/answer questions.

Skills Desired: See above (not really).

Meals: If renting and working over 30 hours/week, staples, shared meals, farm "seconds" (not quite marketable) produce can all be shared.

Stipend: Yes, $15/hour with end of year bonus.

Housing: Room (all utilities included) available for $400/mo

Preferred method of Contact: Email
