Internship Details:
We are looking to hire a full-time veggie farmhand for the 2025 season. We grow a diverse array of vegetables for our roughly 75 member CSA as well as a thriving farmers’ market in St. Croix Falls, WI. We utilize no-till and low-till techniques and lots of people power, so you can expect this position to include:
greenhouse production of seedlings; application of soil amendments; bed preparation; transplanting; direct field seeding; hand cultivation & weeding; trellising; harvesting; maintenance of field edges and sprinkler rows; operating of tractor for mowing, hauling, etc; and bi-weekly driving CSA delivery route to the Twin Cities metro area.
You will work 4 days/week with Emily, our lead veggie farmer. 1 day/week you will work independently and/or with our crew of workshare members, so experience and ability to work autonomously are a must!
We will do our best to keep your work hours to 40/hrs/week (Monday-Friday). This can fluctuate slightly with the season and the weather.
Educational Opportunities: This is a position where you will learn on the job, but is not explicitly an educational program with a curriculum. This is a paid position, not an unpaid internship!
Skills Desired: Minimum 1-2 seasons experience on a working vegetable farm. Management experience not required but would be excellent, and we can talk about a pay increase if you have management experience.
Meals: We provide crew lunches (with a rotating cooking schedule) on days you work and at least one weekly community meal, all abundant in-season produce, and $100/month worth of meat for personal use.
Stipend: Yes, we pay $14/hr starting wage with an increase to $15/hr after the first month if things are going well.
Housing: Yes-- in a small cabin near the main farmhouse. Cabin is insulated and equipped with a space heater and electricity but no running water. Access to bathroom (including shower), laundry, kitchen, and living space in the farmhouse shared with our family and other land-mates.
