Ovipost grows insects as a sustainable alternative protein to replace animal meat for humans and pets. Known for their ability to up-cycle waste streams such as moldy baked goods, spent brewer’s grains, and wilted vegetables, insects grow quickly in compact spaces, use minimal water, and have a superior feed conversion ratio compared to traditional livestock. For example, replacing just 20% percent of animal meat with insect protein in dog food would have gigaton-scale climate impact while vastly reducing animal suffering in factory farms.

Run by queer & trans women and backed by climate impact investors, our Florida farm is a safe haven for the LGBT community in the rural South. It’s a great fit for those seeking community while wanting to make an impact on the world.

The physical property is gorgeous, with a pond, chickens, and plenty of nature. You’ll see alligators, armadillos, owls, herons, ibis, snakes, turtles, and chameleons on the property. We have epic sunsets, that we watch from the top of a shipping container.

The work is hard, but rewarding. Feeding, cleaning, watering, harvesting, managing broodstock—it’s a lot of manual labor in climate-controlled (hot) buildings. Expect to sweat, drink lots of ice-cold electrolytes, and get your 10,000 steps in each day.

We offer two-week paid apprenticeships. You’ll receive a $500 stipend, plus room and board.
