General Farm Description: Lavender Hill Farm is a scenic half acre certified organic lavender farm on Vashon Island. We have a seven week season that runs from mid June through July. We welcome visitors for U-Cut, process lavender essential oil, dry and harvest lavender, make lavender wreaths and farm a second location. In our 19th season, we are a popular destination in the Pacific Northwest.

Internship Details:

We are looking for 2 interns for our 2024 lavender season. Interns receive a stipend, room and board, and experience with all aspects of lavender and small farming. Vashon Island has many small farms with opportunities to connect with other local farmers and interns.

The ideal intern is 18-25, interested in organic farming, entrepreneurship, the Pacific Northwest and working in community. Prior lavender experience not required. Must love physical outdoor work, and enjoy people. BIPOC and LGBTQ+ applicants are encouraged to apply. Must have drivers license, health insurance, and current vaccinations.

Our internship:
Workweek: 6 days per week, approximately 7 hours per day plus 1 hour on contributing to household chores (cooking, cleanup)
Days off: one day per week (typically Monday) plus 2 floating days off during your internship – for short trips, other commitments.

Skills Desired: Prior gardening or farming experience is helpful but not required. Love of the outdoors and capability to work outside in all weather conditions is important. Ability to connect with others, and experience in customer engagement are valuable skills.

Meals: Yes - all food is provided with interns sharing meal preparation.

Stipend: $75 stipend per week paid Mondays. Bonus of $525 ($75 x 7) paid upon successful completion of internship. Potential stipend earnings: $1050. 1099 misc. tax form will be issued to all interns.

Housing: Shared room in our 5 bedroom 1930's farmhouse. You will be living with family members and our guests.
