Rooted in holistic farming practices, our 65-acre farm in Boulder, Colorado serves as both a working agricultural system and a living classroom. Through utilizing working horses and oxen, integrated livestock systems, and low-till gardens and diverse crop fields, we cultivate soil health, resilience, and meaningful relationships between people, animals, and the land. Light Root Farm & Learning Center is a 65-acre working farm and living classroom where land stewardship, education, and healing come together. Using animal-powered farming (horses & oxen), integrated livestock systems, and low-till gardens, we support soil health, community connection, and farm-based learning and therapeutic programs.
We’re seeking a Farm Education & Production Manager to lead garden and field crop production, support livestock systems, and facilitate education, volunteer, and therapeutic programs. This role blends hands-on farming with teaching, mentorship, and leadership and is ideal for someone excited to grow with an expanding mission-driven organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead garden and field crop production, greenhouse propagation, and irrigation
Integrate working animals into cultivation and harvest
Facilitate farm education programs, summer camps, workshops, and volunteer days
Support therapeutic and farmer-training programs
Assist with livestock systems (poultry, pigs, dairy) and general farm operations
Mentor seasonal staff, interns, and volunteers
Qualifications
2+ years farming/gardening experience at a management level
Experience with farm-based education and volunteer leadership
Crop production, irrigation, and livestock experience
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
Ability to work outdoors year-round and lift 50+ lbs
Schedule & Benefits
Variable schedule, 35–45 hrs/week (5–6 days/week, some weekends; peak May–Oct)
