Internship information
General Farm Description: Spring Creek Farm sits on 125 acres of beautiful, rolling farmland in Eastern Pennsylvania. We raise grass-fed beef; pasture-raised pork, chicken, turkeys, and organic pasture-raised laying hens on 100ish acres, and grow a diverse variety of certified organic vegetables on another 10 acres for our CSA program and offsite farmers markets. We grow according to sustainable, organic (some would say regenerative) standards, and continually strive for harmony with nature. It is hard work, and we're honored to do itCRAFT Member Farm? Yes
Internship Starts: ASAP
Internship Ends: November 2023
Number of Internship Available: 1
Application Deadline: May 2023
Minimum Length of Stay: Full season
Internship Details:
This position is an immersive farm experience, and an introduction to pasture-based livestock production. Our interns gain experience with all aspects of livestock farming at a small scale – from birth to finish – and will work as a team to successfully provide fresh, nutritious food for 300+ families every week! Our interns learn the ropes of calving/lambing/farrowing/brooding to tagging, castrating, vaccinating, grazing and finally finishing. Our goal is to help you build a foundation of knowledge through practical experience, while balancing the demands of production and the need to be economically sustainable.
It takes a lot of elbow grease to care for over 1,500 animals! We work long hours, outdoors, in all weather – heat, humidity, cold, rain, and sometimes snow. All applicants must be physically able to complete a season of farm work (i.e. physical labor), communicate clearly and with respect for others, and be motivated to work efficiently as a team *or alone* in a fast-paced environment. A sense of humor and can-do attitude are necessary on any farm team. Previous experience with livestock is valuable, but not required. A can-do attitude and strong desire to explore farming as a career is a must!
Working hours fluctuate with the weather and seasonal demands, but our average week is 8:30am-6:30pm, 5 days/wk. Compensation includes a monthly stipend, communal on-site housing (includes utilities), plus as many ugly veggies as you can eat, and 20% discount on our meat and eggs.
Join us in building community around healthy soil, ethically treated animals, and happy people! To apply, please email Matt at info@springcreekfarm.com with your resume and a letter of interest .

Meals: No, but interns are welcome to as many veggies as they can eat and get discounts on meat, eggs, and other market goods

Housing: Yes!
