Internship informationGeneral Farm Description: Old Ford Farm is a 40 acre diversified family farm located in New Paltz, NY. We have a certified raw milk operation with 15 cows and we raise eggs, chicken, pork and turkey which are mostly sold in our farm store.

The main responsibility will be running all aspects of the dairy operation. This includes caring for cows (fencing, feeding, etc.), milking, and bottling milk. Other jobs will include collecting eggs, animal fencing/rotation, and tractor work, among other farm tasks. We offer a friendly and organized work environment, as well the opportunity to interact with the people who are buying the food you are producing.
Schedule/hours: The morning shift is 6 am – noon and the evening shift is 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm. This position is for 8 shifts per week and the schedule always includes at least 2 full days off. A minimum one-year commitment is required. The start date is flexible.

Educational Opportunities: Through your work you will learn about the day-to-day workings and management of a for-profit diversified farm. We are happy to share our record-keeping systems and finances with any interested employees. You will also have the opportunity to take part in CRAFT tours at other farms in the Hudson Valley.
Skills Desired: Character and work ethic are more important than skills and experience. The ability to work long hours at a high physical intensity, often alone, and sometimes in uncomfortable weather conditions is a must. We are looking for someone who has the ability to hustle but also think critically about how work can be done most efficiently. We would love to work with someone who is not just looking for a job, but who is passionate about good food and contributing to a more sustainable and just food system.
Meals: No, but some farm products are part of compensation.
Stipend: The compensation is $16.50 per hour plus milk, yogurt, and eggs.
