No
Internship Starts: May 1, June 2, July 1, August 1, September 1
Internship Ends: May 30, June 30, July 31, August 29, September 30
Number of Internship Available: 4 per month
Application Deadline: rolling
Minimum Length of Stay: one month
Internship Details:
One-Month Summer Blocks are opportunities for those who are interested in taking their academic understanding of small scale farming and apply them out in the field for an intense but short-term experience. You will be incorporated into our production plan, and will work under the supervision of our field staff and 7-month apprentices. You will gain experience with propagation, cultivation, harvest, wash-pack, and marketing/deliveries. While one month will not provide all of the experience you need to start a farm, it will give you a much better understanding of the kinds of follow up opportunities that can round out your readiness to farm. Summer Blocks are great for GAP students, or for those hoping to participate in the WWOOFing program. Participants can register for only one month, or for up to 5 months, May – September. Fee is $750/month.
Educational Opportunities: in field training
Skills Desired: We prefer that applicants have done extensive self-directed reading about sustainable ag, or have completed an on-line course, or have worked on a farm in some capacity.
Meals: no, however participants are encouraged to harvest from the field for their meals
Stipend: no
Housing: yes, a shared sleeping cabin (two people per cabin), near to shared shower/bathroom/kitchen facilities on site
Preferred method of Contact: email
