General Farm Description: Tierra Garden is a therapeutic and educational garden located at the Tierra Learning Center. Tierra Learning Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults with developmental disabilities through connections with nature, the arts, and community building. The garden is a space of growing and learning for the participants of an adult day program and residents of a group home located on the property. There is also a preschool on the property that engages in the garden as well. We grow mixed vegetables, herbs, and flowers on about 1.5 acres and we donate most of the produce to the local food pantry.CRAFT Member Farm? No

Internship Details:
This is a work trade position that is available from May- October, 10 hours/week of work in the garden in exchange for living in a lovely studio apartment located right next to the garden. The work will include the basics of gardening: planting, weeding, harvesting, irrigating, etc. The work can be collaborative or independent, but the work trader must have an interest in positive interactions with and learning alongside adults with developmental disabilities.

Skills Desired: An ability to do manual labor and to be respectful of people of all abilities. Previous gardening or farming experience would be helpful but not mandatory.
