Maintaining Your Tractor – Building Your Toolbox
What tools do you need to do your own tractor maintenance? Let ATTRA Specialist Andy Pressman and Farm and Equipment Educator Shane LaBrake walk you through everything you need to build up a complete toolbox.
The tractor that Andy and Shane are working on is a 35 horsepower Ford 1910 from 1985. In this video, they review the tools that Shane uses when maintaining tractors. These are not the tools for major tractor repair, but rather everything a farmer or tractor owner would need to change filters and fluids. Being able to perform routine maintenance helps the farmer keep their financial independence. The tools are an upfront cost, but compared to the hauling and labor costs of bringing a tractor to a dealer, it can be a major savings in the end.
This video is part of a five-part series, “Maintaining Your Tractor.”
The series was filmed at the Inn at East Hill Farm in Troy, New Hampshire, and was funded through a Specialty Crop Block Grant from the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food.
