Maintaining Your Tractor – Changing the Oil and Oil Filter
Do you know how to change the oil and oil filter on your tractor? Making sure that your engine is well lubricated helps extend the lifespan of your machine. Let ATTRA Specialist Andy Pressman and Farm and Equipment Educator Shane LaBrake walk you through everything you need to change your tractor’s oil.
The tractor that Andy and Shane are working on is a 35 horsepower Ford 1910 from 1985. They go through the whole process of draining the tractor of the old oil, replacing the oil filter, and adding back in the clean oil. Along the way, they drops the tips and tricks that can make this an easier job. Being able to perform the routine maintenance on their tractor helps farmers save money in the long run. This video is one of a five-part series, “Maintaining Your Tractor.”
The series was filmed at the Inn at East Hill Farm in Troy, New Hampshire and was funded through a Specialty Crop Block Grant from the New Hampshire Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food.
