Nomi Sofer

Nomi Sofer specializes in crafting equity-focused communications, storytelling for social justice, and narrative change. She has served in numerous strategic communications leadership roles for nonprofits and research institutions dedicated to changing inequitable systems and advancing racial equity and social policy. Most recently she was the Associate Director, Narrative Office, at the Center for Antiracist Research at Boston University. She is passionate about repairing the harms of mass incarceration and reimagining U.S. society without the carceral state. Nomi directed Voices of Reentry, a documentary film that explores the challenges facing formerly incarcerated people when they return to our communities. Nomi holds a PhD in English and American literature from Boston University and has taught writing and American literature and culture. Nomi grew up on a small family farm and worked alongside her parents and siblings raising vegetable crops and cut flowers. Since moving to Massachusetts, she has served in various volunteer capacities at Stearns Farm, a diversified nonprofit CSA farm that practices sustainable farming on a very small plot of land.
