Southern SARE Awards Producer Grants
The Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education (SARE) program awarded more than $344,000 in Producer Grants to further sustainable agriculture production and marketing practices throughout the Southern region. The Producer Grants are strictly for farmers and ranchers to conduct research projects on their farm to not only solve production and marketing challenges, but to also share their results with fellow farmers in an education and outreach capacity. Projects funded this year include interseeding cover crops into cotton, establishing native wildflower cover crops in apple orchards, building local corn seed production, and evaluating cage-grown oysters. A list of the funded projects is available online.
