Symposium Showcases Role of Grazing in Fire Prevention

The Rustici Rangeland Science Symposium held recently in California showcased the role that targeted grazing can play in fire prevention, reports California Farm Bureau’s Ag Alert. UC Cooperative Extension livestock and natural resources adviser Dan Macon explained how producers can use targeted grazing for vegetation management that achieves fuels reduction. Symposium presenters provided examples of how ivestock producers can manage grazing both to improve the fire safety of their own land and to provide a marketable service of fuels management for the broader community, on both private and public lands.
