Farmer Portrait: Wayne Riley, London, Kentucky
In this series, we spotlight some of the farmers and ranchers NCAT supports. They raise fruit, vegetables, flowers, and animals on farms and urban gardens from New Hampshire to Kentucky, on operations that range in size from less than an acre to more than 40 acres. But these differences mean very little. They share a commitment to stewarding the land and serving their communities, and we are proud to partner with them.
Wayne Riley, London, KY. Wayne is the founder and director of Laurel County African American Heritage Center where he manages an active diversified demonstration farm with sheep, poultry and swine. The Center also manages a USDA poultry processing facility and a commercial kitchen for value added production, and they host monthly educational meetings on farm production. In addition, the Center manages a large free food distribution operation for families in need.
