General Farm Description: Situated on a 320-acre campus located in Asheville, NC we are a non-profit production and educational farm growing produce, teaching garden-based education, and hosting agritourism events as part of a larger organization, Eliada Home. We have a 1/4 acre Learning Garden, 3-season hoophouse, and year-round geodesic dome in vegetable, herb, and fruit production. We also have a 6-acre field where we host an annual Corn Maze. We use sustainable and organic growing practices and are able to grow year-round.

Part-time Seasonal Internship 2026

Description
Eliada Homes, Inc. is seeking 2-3 Seasonal Farm Interns for the 2026 growing season whose part-time work will directly and indirectly impact the lives and needs of our students, their families, and our community. Eliada Farms was revitalized in 2018 as a return to Eliada’s agricultural roots, with the goal of providing fresh, local produce to children and the greater community. Eliada has offered rewarding, impactful, and meaningful work for over 100 years, making us one of the longest-running nonprofits in the Asheville area and the state of North Carolina.

Position & Qualifications: Garden Intern
Major Responsibilities:

  • Maintain farm garden spaces including the Grow Dome, Hoophouse, & Learning Garden.
  • Seed starting, transplanting, watering, and harvesting fruits and vegetables.
  • Weeding, pest management, and general farm upkeep.

Qualifications:

  • Some knowledge of gardening, agriculture, or equivalent certifications/experience.
  • Must possess a valid North Carolina Driver’s License and be insured by Eliada’s insurance carriers.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable and consistent transportation.
  • Available for approximately 10-15 hours per week.

Seasonal internship positions are available for fall, spring, and summer. These unpaid positions will be supervised by the Farm Director. Individuals must be available to work weekdays. This is an in-person internship. We are happy to work with to fulfill educational required internship hours.

Educational Opportunities: Interns will have opportunities to learn a variety of skills about how to run a non-profit farm and grow food, as well as leading classes, volunteer groups, and marketing and communications aspects of the program.

Skills Desired: Some basic plant care skills for the garden internship and basic computer skills for the marketing and communications internship are required.
