Welcome to Sage Hill, a 55 acre farm located in Southeastern Wisconsin.  We are a certified organic farm using regenerative farm practices!  We are looking for a hard working individual who wants to learn the following:  soil science, compost tea and it’s effects on plants, hemp and growing, harvesting and creating products, farmer market management, vegetable garden techniques, how to raise pasture chickens.

Job will include participating in all daily farm activities and running farmer markets on Saturdays!

Hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 8-5.  Sundays and Monday’s

 

Sage Hill Regenerative Apprenticeship Program is a residential program that provides both theoretical and practical experience in regenerative and organic agriculture to aspiring farmers. Our 2023 program will support three apprentices.  The core of this program is a customized learning agenda including skill development through participating in ongoing farm management and through leading special projects.  Our special project this year is soil fertility and compost tea and how it affects plant growth.  You will learn how to make compost teas and methods to apply to different plants.  Apprentices will also maintain pasture chickens and egg production.  Gardens are a big part of our farm for our food do participating in care such as planting, weeding and harvesting of vegetables and herbs. Each Saturday we do farmers markets and apprentices would help running the markets.

Apprentices can stay in farmhouse, shared living.  We mostly eat our own or locally-grown produce. Apprentices stay in the historical farm house on the property, which is equipped with a kitchen, three bedrooms, full bath.

Educational Opportunities: We recently received a grant for the effects of compost tea on plants growth and disease control.

Skills Desired: Looking for someone who is interested in learning a variety of farm skills and interested in compost tea, hemp, planting, organic weed control, chicken and egg care,

Meals: There’s plenty of food in the fields! Most meals will be on your with occasional family meals.

Stipend: We will pay 1100.00 per month.

Housing: Housing is available upon request. Have option to camp and use farmhouse kitchen and bathroom!
