General Farm Description: World Hunger Relief Institute is committed to the alleviation of hunger through education, research, and sustainable agriculture. The program takes place on our 40 acre sustainable farm outside Waco, Texas where we raise livestock, grow organic fruits and vegetables in our market garden, and facilitate a myriad of education programs.

Internship Details:

Live-In Volunteers are offered the opportunity to live on-farm rent-free in exchange for 15 hours of work per week. This program allows people to experience farm life and learn basic chores, task, and concepts of sustainable agriculture without committing the the full 8-month internship. Live-in Volunteers receive training and supervision and are invited to participate in certain on-farm educational activities. Schedules are flexible allowing the Live-in Volunteer to participate in other activities, education or employment apart from the Farm. Common Live-In Volunteer tasks may include but are not limited to working in the Market Garden, livestock chores and projects, caring for the educational gardens and landscaping, educational activities in the community, assisting with farmers market, compost system care, administrative or office help, etc.


Educational Opportunities: Live-In Volunteers will receive orientation, training, and have an opportunity to participate in some educational opportunities (e.g. classes, workshops, etc.)

Skills Desired: No experience necessary. Live-in Volunteers must have the ability to live with and work in a team with people from a variety of backgrounds with different beliefs. A desire to learn and receive feedback. Perseverance, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.

Meals: Yes, however prepared meals are limited to the weekly all-farm lunches

Housing: Yes, Live-In Volunteers are offered furnished all bills paid housing.
