Southern SARE Adding Urban Ag Position on Administrative Council
The Southern Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SSARE) program is adding a new Urban Ag seat to its Administrative Council. The Administrative Council guides the vision of the SARE program, setting goals related to sustainable agriculture, overseeing the review of grant Calls for Proposals, evaluating projects, and serving as ambassadors for the program. Southern SARE is inviting nominations or self-nominations by July 1, 2026, for the Urban Ag seat, from qualified individuals in any of the 13 states in the southern region, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands. SSARE is looking for an Urban Ag member who is a farmer representative with emphasis on urban production and community and the unique opportunities and challenges that are associated with farming in the city. The member will serve as a representative to improve quality of life, foster economic stability, support new innovations, and advance community development.
