Urban Agriculture in the United States: Baseline Findings of a Nationwide Survey


Urban agriculture can play an important role in supporting local food systems. The potential benefits agriculture off ers in urban areas have gained the interest of many residents and policy makers, who are implementing policies, developing infrastructure, and creating markets to support the growing number of urban farms. Urban farmers are faced with a unique set of challenges that includes the high cost of land, access to capital resources, and limited availability of technical assistance. This publication focuses on information gathered from a 2013 national study of urban agriculture.
