California Funds Livestock Enteric Methane Emission Reduction Research

California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Office of Environmental Farming and Innovation awarded $9.2 million in grant funding to six research projects under the Livestock Enteric Methane Emission Reduction Research Program. Several projects will research the effectiveness, safety, and yield impacts of feed supplements and additives for reducing enteric methane in dairy cattle. One project will focus on effects of early life strategies to reduce lifetime enteric methane emissions in California cow-calf operations.
