General Farm Description: Spring House Farm is one of very few farms in the area who operate using Holistic Management Principles and regenerative farming. Livestock are managed to mimic the behaviors of ancient wild herds in a manner that heals degraded soils, improves ecosystem function, and builds biodiversity. Seeing these methods in action is a wonderful learning experience on many fronts.

Internship Details:

Responsibilities: Spring House Farm is a busy livestock and retail farming operation, requiring flexibility, problem solving and teamwork skills. Applicants should be prepared to work hard, including but not limited to the following tasks: working livestock, moving feed, working indoors and outdoors, operating machinery and vehicles, assisting with repairing machinery and fencing, and making deliveries.

 

Schedule: Employees will work 5 days per week and have 2 consecutive days off

Requirements / Qualifications: Valid driver’s license, able to lift a 50 pound bag of grain onto your shoulder unassisted, able to follow directions. Employees will need their hands and minds on the job at all times to ensure safety. We are looking strictly for people who know when it’s time to put the phone away and get down to business. Mechanical aptitude preferred but not required.

Skills Desired: There will be special consideration for individuals with mechanical, welding and/or construction knowledge. On the job training will be provided for all skill sets. We take great pride in our farming practices, our animals, and our products and will welcome someone who will share in that pride with us. Spring House Farm has a very positive team atmosphere, we encourage and support one another. We value each other's integrity, drive, and willingness to learn and are looking for someone with similar qualities.

Meals: Employee will have access to the majority of food products we produce.

Stipend: $800/month. As skill set increases and independence is gained, pay will increase. Responsible employees are permitted to hunt and fish on farm property.
